Helen Alice Bennick

     Helen Alice Bennick, 80, a Hermiston resident for the past 30 years, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at the Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Wash.
She was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Promise, Ore., to William and Mary (Allen) Swearingen. She was one of 12 children, the rest of whom preceded her in death.
For many years she lived in Maupin, where she owned and operated “The Red Rooster Café,” until retiring and moving to Hermiston with her husband, Donald Bennick. She was a member of the Hermiston Assembly of God Church.
     Survivors include a son, Lloyd Rambo, Maupin; daughters, Christine Rambo, Yakima, Wash.; Alice (and Claude) Bennett, Los Molinos, Calif.; and Lois (and Ernie) Hohenwald, Irrigon; as well as eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Rambo; and her second husband, Donald Bennick.
     She was laid to rest July 26 with Burns Mortuary of Hermiston in charge of arrangements.
