A Portland woman who left her wallet on top of her car when she drove off got it and most of the contents back with the help of another motorist.
Amber Dawn Rhodes, 30, set her wallet on top of her vehicle at Milepost 64.5 on I-84 around 9:35 a.m. a log entry from the state police in The Dalles states.
Robert Travis Wayman, 32, Scappoose, saw the wallet fall off the vehicle in the eastbound lanes and stopped to recover it. He turned it over to Senior Trooper Michael Holloran at Milepost 67.
Rhodes realized her mistake about the time she passed the OSP car and came back to where he was parked and he returned the wallet to her.
At this time Rhodes realized she was missing $121, some receipts and her social security card.
Holloran and Rhodes returned to Milepost 64 and walked the shoulder of the freeway for about two miles and found several of the receipts, the social security card, her insurance card and $91.
